Services & Promotions

At Boise Vision Care, we are pleased to offer a wide range of optometry services for our community! Our experienced optometrists can provide you with thorough eye evaluations, determine if you need corrective lenses and your exact prescription strength, fit you with the appropriate specialty eyewear, and help you pick out the most flattering pair of glasses for your face shape and skin tone.

Our new patient appointments always begin with a comprehensive eye exam. If you are unsure of your family’s eye health history, it’s helpful to research beforehand, so we can better evaluate your own eye health. Visit our online patient resources to download supplemental forms you can fill out before your appointment. If you have never had a comprehensive exam, don’t worry! All the tests and exercises are simple and painless.

Pediatric Vision Care Services

Boise Vision Care is a family-oriented care facility. We begin to examine children ages five and up. Experts agree that a child’s eyes should be regularly examined after age three unless an obvious problem requires earlier treatment. Because we gear our eye examination to individual age levels, children find their visit both pleasant and educational.

Eye Examinations for Children

A comprehensive eye examination will assess visual acuity, refractive status, ocular health, eye tracking, eye focusing, and eye teaming. Visual acuity measures how clearly a child sees objects. Refractive status measures for nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. The child is evaluated for any eye health problems, including active pathology for congenital anomalies. Eye tracking is the ability of the eyes to fixate, smoothly follow, and look between objects or printed words. Eye focusing is the ability to efficiently change and sustain focus while reading. Eye teaming is the ability to coordinate both eyes accurately and without fatigue or excessive effort. Accurate eye teaming is also important for accurate two-eyed depth perception or stereopsis. Early detection and management is recommended to prevent vision loss or eye disease and to provide appropriate vision development.

Hand – Eye Coordination

As part of the visual examination we also assess vision development. Young children use vision to explore the world by identifying and directing movement. If a problem in vision is preventing adequate development of perception and hand-eye coordination skills early intervention is vital.

School Performance

Many vision problems can be corrected more easily with early diagnosis and treatment. Reports have estimated that up to 25% of students in grades K-6 have vision-related problems, which may contribute to poor school performance. The visual system matures rapidly during the first few years and it is important to identify any problems that may interfere with normal vision.

Surgical Consultation Services

The Doctors at Boise Vision Care have the expertise and information you need to make the right choices about vision correcting laser and other surgeries. We offer a free laser consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. Dr. Boespflug has personally had LASIK surgery and all our doctors are well versed in the use of the refractive laser. We also provide testing and consultation regarding glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, and other conditions.
